Reader’s Question:
I’m putting up a medium-sized Law firm here in Sacramento, California and I’m wondering type of printer will best suite our needs?

Due to the myriad of makes and models of printers out there, the most important thing about choosing a printer for your business is to consider exactly what your printing needs are, how often your staff will be using it and of course your budget. A high-end printer may not necessarily be the best choice and you wouldn’t want to get a printer that constantly breaks down due to overuse either.
If you are on a budget and prefer to save space, I suggest you get an all-in-one printer, scanner and fax. Not only does having one machine do all of your printing, copying and faxing needs make life easier, it also saves you more money in the long run since these machines tend to use standard paper sizes for everything, eliminating the need for you to purchase different paper sizes. An all-in-one is actually a good investment since you will only have to maintain and renew supplies for one machine. Imagine having to buy separate toner cartridges for a printer, copier or fax when they basically do the same thing as an all-in-one, print.
The drawback, obviously, is that if the one essential part of the machine goes out, say the LCD screen then the whole machine might be useless for other purposes too, so you’re essentially shut down if heavily reliant on printing or faxing, like most law firms are. You also would want to consider the number of people who will be using the printer, so speed and ease of use is essential to avoid long printer queues. The benefits of an All-in-one for your start-up firm in Sacramento, California, definitely outweighs the cons. HP and Canon have been known to produce reliable all-in-one’s and have helpful after purchase support, so you may want to begin you’re search there but just make sure you get a good warranty for these machines.

I discovered a free program that goes a long way toward keeping my computer running smoothly and cleaning up unnecessary garbage from my system. It’s called CCleaner (the first C stands for Crap!), and I’d like to show you how it works.
In all honesty, I’ve used and recommended a couple of programs for a long time that I actually prefer. For cleaning and optimizing my computer, I’ve always trusted SpeedUpMyPC, and for anything having to do with cleaning my registry, I’ve always used RegistryBooster. Nothing I’ve found makes me feel better about getting the job done.
However, this free program has been gaining notice lately, and I’ve been testing it. It just might fit the needs of many out there, and I’m giving it some press.
Watch the video, and let me know what you think.

Are you often inundated with pop-up windows? Many people that receive these pop-ups think that it is simply a byproduct of surfing the Internet. Don’t be too quick to dismiss these intrusive windows as being a regular occurrence. They may be a sign of a more difficult problem, one that might be monitoring everything that you do while you’re on the computer. Often, pop-up windows are a sign that you may be dealing with spyware. These malicious little programs run in the background and install themselves without our knowledge. They have two different purposes. First, they monitor our computer in order to deliver ads to us in the form of pop-up windows and by stealing and hijacking our Internet browser. Second, they are aware of everything that we type so they can monitor e-mails, chat room sessions and even steal our credit card numbers and passwords.

Finding the lowest price on a digital camera can prove to be a difficult journey for most. Because of the many different types of digital cameras on the retail market, a person can run into difficulties choosing which of the many types is best for their lifestyle. However, with a little research and time, you can find the best digital camera that fits your budget and needs quite easily.
Where to Look for the Best Digital Camera
One of the first places that many people go to find the lowest price for a digital camera is the local big box retailer like Wal-Mart. The cameras that are offered here are good, but they may not be the best of the best. If you are seeking a camera to just take random pictures of family and friends, then these will serve your purposes just fine. However, ..

Today, compact digital cameras such as the Canon compact digital cameras are the new rage and almost every consumer that fancies their hand as a photographer will be out hunting for one of these excellent models. No doubt there are many makes and models that provide a whole new array of options in compact digital cameras to choose from, but somehow the Canon compact digital cameras are an exception and they are also very fashionable as well.
Canon PowerShot A570 Is
Among several different Canon compact digital cameras models, the Canon PowerShot A570 IS stands out from the pack and even at just a hundred and seventy dollars it is hard to beat. In fact, it provides a lot of power for such a low cost and it also has many features that help you in getting clear and crisp shots and to get even more out of picture quality it is recommended to use this Canon compact digital camera’s manual control, though using optical image stabilization is also recommended if it is clearest picture quality that you need.
Another one of the many excellent Canon compact digital cameras worth considering for your next compact digital camera is the Canon Power Shot SD870 IS that is a well known name in compact digital cameras and its excellent 4x digital zoom and outstanding 3.8x optical zoom make it a cut above the rest. In fact, Canon compact digital cameras give you a whole new experience as many of their models also double as a movie camera complete with sound.
Another one of the excellent models worth considering from among different Canon compact digital cameras is the Canon EOS 5D digital cameras that boasts of massive 12.8 mega pixels and it also has a compact flash as well as a microdrive. Of course, this model of Canon compact digital cameras is of SLR type, but it is still well liked by consumers who are attracted by its lightness of weight and its easier handling.
One more thing that is common to all Canon compact digital cameras is their very high resolutions as well as the great attention paid to detail by the company in each of its models, and when you also get full frame sensors, you would not want much more. You may even want to compare Nikon compact digital cameras with Canon compact digital cameras and be gratified to find that there is not much to choose between these two photographic equipment making giants and that both have their own pluses and drawbacks that only experts can distinguish.
Many people actually prefer the Nikon Coolpix S51 Digital camera and this is not surprising because it provides very cool pictures which is why it gets its name ‘Coolpix’ and in addition it is also as compact as any of the many available Canon compact digital cameras.

I’m a big fan of a disk defragmentation program called Diskeeper. It’s the best out there, bar none. There’s a video farther down this blog demonstrating it.
But I’m also a big fan of helping my readers get the job done without emptying their wallets, so I’ve come up with a version of Diskeeper that is available for no cost. It’s not a “trial version,” but an actual no cost version that, to the best of my knowledge, doesn’t expire.
Watch the video and see if it’s for you. If so, the link to download it is under the video.

I’ve spoken about the importance of defragmenting your computer’s hard drive in previous posts. I’ve recommended a product called Diskeeper twice now, once in a video demo of the Pro version HERE and more recently in a demo of a free version, Diskeeper Lite, HERE.
There are, however, a couple of other pretty darn good, and free, disk defragmentation softwares available that would be remiss if I didn’t bring them to your attention. I have tried both of them, and it’s my opinion that any of the three can help significantly improve your computer’s speed and overall performance. All three are superior to the built-in Windows Defragmenter.
The first is called UltimateDefrag. This video gives a pretty good overview. It’s excellent for a no-cost program. This video actually demonstrates two different defragmenters. The second is one I have NOT tried. Since it involves installation of a screensaver, and works when the ..

Reader’s Question:
My father seems to be going through printers that is inkjet type and they get too clogged up to print. The only thing I see her doing that might be wrecking the printer is to use paper she gets as junk mail. Is it really possible that this paper is damaging the printer?
Cheska
Kansas City, KS
Generally, junk mail is not printed on the best bond paper. These cheap papers easily shed fibers and the friction rollers that feed sheets to the print platen may be raising fibers up enough to catch the inkjet nozzle as it passes by. The fiber absorbs the ink at the nozzle and it attracts other fibers, that leads to a clog.
Have you tried running the head cleaning program that is part of the Epson software? Regular use of that cleaning program with good paper (multi-purpose paper is fine) prolongs the life of the print heads.
My suggestion is to buy an inexpensive LaserJet printer for home use. These types of printers tend to last twice as long and do not seem to have nearly as many problems as an inkjet.

Reader’s Question:
I read something somewhere about the findings that show that researchers have found that laser printers are responsible for a significant amount of potentially carcinogenic emissions? Is this true?
Martha
Bloomington, MN
According to a recent study some printers emit sub-micrometre particles which some suspect may be associated with respiratory diseases. It is said according to the study that 17 of the strongest emitters were made by Hewlett-Packard and one by Toshiba. However, the machine population studied, was only those machines already in place in the building and was thus biased toward specific manufacturers. It was noted that particle emissions varied substantially even among the same model of machine. According to Professor Morawska of Queensland University the health effects from inhaling ultrafine particles depend on particle composition, but the results can range from respiratory irritation to more severe illness such as cardiovascular problems or cancer
Also a study in Japan found that laser printers increase concentrations of styrene, xylenes, and ozone, and that ink-jet printers emitted pentanol.
